Eric watched as Tayleigh left the room, catching sight of the rather tall Martian Marine who was still standing guard at the door. The man glanced at him for a moment, and he could swear there was a growl on his face.

The Techie frowned for a second, not saying a word as the door slid shut once more and then a loud locking sound echoed. His head shook and slowly he leaned back, half laying down on his bed. His hands swept up behind his head, his frown deepening as he considered exactly what he was going to tell Tayleigh.

He supposed the truth would be the best option.

The conversation with the Captain hadn't gone too bad. Sure he'd ended up yelling a bit but that had probably been expected of him. He'd never said anything bad...though she might get mad if he told her what he'd said as the interview ended.

Women generally didn't like it when you did things like that. At least not without their permission.

Several minutes later, having heated two cups of coffee and getting Eric something to fill his stomach, Tayleigh returned. The entryway door hissed and parted, revealing the room beyond and one Eric Walsh laying back against the bunk in silent contemplation. The guard behind her said not a word and made no move here or there. The lieutenant waited for the door to close and then stepped a few feet inside, setting down the tray atop a tiny round table and retrieving the two cups from it.

With her left hand she offered the cup to Eric, holding her own in her right as the steam rose from the two beverages.

    "Here we are."

Cautiously the martian blew on the liquid before taking a small sip, the sting of the temperature still a bit too much for her to drink.

Eric took the cup with more than a little bit of gratefulness.

He hadn't actually slept for what seemed like days now, and their little adventure, along with the captain's interrogation had actually taken quite a bit out of him. He was tired, and that was slowly starting to show on the lines of his face and the look in his eye. He frowned for a moment, glancing at the hot cup before slowly taking a sip.

The coffee scalded it's way across his tongue, Eric cringing slightly as he tried not to make a stupid sound. He took a breath, drawing back and offering a smile. ”Its good.”

Not as good as the stuff on earth, but still a thousand times better than anything on Ceres.

”Thanks.” Eric said as he stood from the bed and wandered over to the tiny round table, plopping himself down in the equally small chair and motioning for Tayleigh to do the same. ”I really do appreciate it.”

His parents had raised that part of him right at least. ”All of it.”

Tayleigh sat across from Eric, right leg resting lazily atop the left.

She gave the Earther a nod. A light puff of air blew over her cup once more, an effort to cool the nearly scalding liquid before sipping the contents. The woman was still sore, and tired, though the coffee would help with the latter. After a moment Tayleigh set the cup down on the table and looked up at Eric.

    "You're welcome."

Her hands crossed one another, in a waiting sort of gesture. "So, that interview?"

"Oh." He had almost forgotten about that when presented with food. He had been so hungry that most everything had slipped from his mind. A slight frown appeared on his lips. "Right."

How was he going to frame this?

Obviously Tayleigh would likely find out everything that had been said anyway, but he hadn't really meant anything bad through the interview. In fact most of it had painted him in a bad light but her a good one. His lips thinned for a moment, a hand went to his head and he idly ran his fingers through his hair. "Well."

    He frowned.

"I'd say it went rather well." Eric said quietly. "He asked me some questions, I answered them truthfully and stuck to our story."
