For a moment Eric looked around.

"It'd take a while to teach you." There was no hint of smugness in his tone or anything of the like, it was clear that he was just being honest. The training for his job had been tough, and changing ID Tags...well that hadn't exactly been part of the training either. He flashed a smile. "I can leave you some basic instructions to go by and practice with..."

He trailed off for a moment. "But I wouldn't try it without some training modules first."

    Eric glanced at the console.

"Even these old models have a few countermeasures in place." He rapped his knuckle on the side of the console and then gently pressed the terminal back into place. "It's basically just practice...and a very very soft touch."

He flashed Violet a smile, though a rather thoughtful expression pulled across his face for a few seconds. Eric considered for a moment, tapping the discolored Hand Terminal on his thigh before slowly opening his mouth. "How about instead of cash...you give me a lift?"

It was a long shot, not everyone wanted a stranger on their ship.

Keith considered the man's words. Any opportunity to improve his craft was welcome, but he had a nagging feeling he could not quite put a finger on. Was it Eric? Was it the withdrawal? Was it something else entirely?

Eric wanted a ride. Keith was in those shoes not too long ago, and it led to the formation of The Albatoss and her crew. Keith looked back to Violet, giving her a subtle shrug. Your call, bossmang. The man did not appear to have malicious intentions, but the three who crewed The Albatross should be able to handle that situation if it arose.

She would have prefered to have the rest of the crew present before she made a call, one that could have reaching consequences. Rubbing the back of her neck, she met Keith's gaze and she gave a slight shrug of her shoulders. In truth, she didn't really see the harm in it. Meant that they could keep their coin and the lad could probably pass on some knowledge to her and Keith in the process.

With a light click of her tongue and a Belter shrug, she agreed. "Alright then, lad. You've got a deal. We'll take ya where y'need t'go after this job we've got lined up here on Tycho, aye?"

He’d forgotten the dock number, but Dieter was pretty sure he was on the right level, so it was just a matter of going dock-to-dock, looking for the ugliest ship in the port. Time was a construct, he’d decided two hours before, so there was no telling how long it took, but he finally spotted the spray-painted monstrosity hunching on the pad like a slightly embarrassed, or maybe a mostly dead caterpillar, and tumbled his way towards it, up the ramp, and into the hull, trying to remember the layout of the ship parked on its side, versus under thrust. He needed a bunk and a toilet. That was probably the wrong order. He was a little surprised to find the rest of the crew on board. Clearly, he decided, none of them understood the meaning of a good time. That would have to be remedied. Still, he hadn’t managed to drink away his manners, so he greeted them in turn with small nods as he squeezed past them on his way to what he hoped was the head.

    “Princess.”

    “Vi.”

    “Other guy.”

Once past the group, he took a few unsteady steps, stopped for a full five seconds, then did a very slow about face, his index finger locked out in front of him, as if he didn’t trust it to point the correct direction on its own. It took him a few seconds, but it finally settled on the correct blurry human shape in front of him.

“Who....” He started, drawing out the word in a long slur, blinking so slowly that it momentarily looked as if he might have fallen asleep. Perhaps he had. When they reopened, they couldn’t seem to focus until he pinched one shut. “…the everrrrloving fuck...is that one? Has he been here the whole time?”

Keith laughed out loud at Dieter's delayed reaction, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning against the bulkhead. "Eric," he answered. "Another Inya Violet picked up at the bar." Keith gave Violet a playful wink.

"He helped to fix our little transponder issue, ya? We're now officially The Albatross. Coyo wants a ride," he finished. Keith paused, noticing Dieter's inebriated state. "Oye, you bring some booze back with you?"

Eric looked at the other guy, giving him an awkward little wave.

He wasn't really sure what was going on at this point, but he had heard Violet say that he would be getting a ride, which was enough for him. Of course it would be only after they got done doing whatever it was they were here on Tycho for...but his mind chose to ignore that small little bit for now.

Eventually he decided it was best to actually open his mouth. "Eric."

He gave the quick introduction to the new person, not wanting to be rude or something like that. His hand clamped around the terminal in his palm for a moment, his eyes looking around the room as he tried to squash down some of the awkwardness that he was currently feeling.

"I can wait a bit." He told Violet. "Not like I have much else going on."

Eric gave an awkward forced laugh.

Violet raised a brow towards the inebriated Dieter, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth. She hadn't seen him like that before, but it was quite amusing. That also explained why he had never responded to the message she had sent him earlier. It was entirely possible that the man had lost his hand terminal at the bar.

When Eric spoke back up, she returned her gaze to the younger Earther and she smiled brightly. "Oh aye. There's a bunk here that y'can use as well. So y'dinnae have to worry about findin' a place t'stay in the mean time."

She gestured over to the swaying drunk, chuckling to herself. "This is Dieter, by the way. Our uh... security chief."

    “Eric...”
Dieter echoed pensively, looking somewhere between frustrated and lost as he struggled to catch up with the information the three individuals were hurling at or past him. Security Chief? Oh. She was talking about him. Something about bunks. Transponders? Blahblahblah. More booze? That was exciting. The new kid was an inner. A younger man that Violet had picked up a bar. Oh. Ohhh. A grin slowly crept onto his face as he looked Eric up and down, nodded approvingly, then turned to Violet to dramatically wriggle his eyebrows.

“Niiiiice,” he hummed, before cocking his head, the motion nearly toppling him before he caught himself on a bulkhead. Maybe that was too enthusiastic. Maybe it was creepy. He decided to compensate by shrugging super-cool and nonchalant-like. “I mean. If you’re into that sort of thing.”

Disregarding the pair, he gracelessly spun to face the Belter, scowling a bit as he dug inside his lumpy jacket pocket and drew out a pint of what passed for tequila on the Belt, though he had the distinct sensation that the agave supply out here was probably…well, non-existent. The heavy clinking of the pockets as the jacket settled back into place indicated that this was not the only provision obtained on his supply run. A bit ruefully, he looked at the label, as if parting with a longtime lover, then tossed the bottle up in the air towards Keith.

“Oy. That’s for saving our asses a gajillion times, but we’re even, now, got me?”
He swayed a little as he let go of the wall to start pointing his pointy finger again. “This isn’t a fucking commune, beratna.”

The accusatory digit rotated to land on Violet. “And you. Don’t fuckin’ make the poor kid wait around all day. I mean, those days might be behind me, but I’m still pretty sure that’s not how hookups work. It seems rude and well, frankly, really…weird.”

With all the proper wisdom delivered , he nobly turned on a heel, walked down the length of the ship and disappeared into the restroom.

Keith barely recovered from his first fit of laughter before he burst into another, catching the bottle thrown by Dieter. The man was hilarious drunk. As Dieter strode away, Keith lifted the tequila in a toasting manner. "Yam seng!"

He shook his head as his laughter faded, giving Violet an apologetic look. "Sorry, sesata. I didn't think he'd take it there." Dropping into one of the crash couches in the cockpit, Keith rested his legs on the dash and inspected the bottle. "Not bad," he appraised. He noticed the withdrawal symptoms seemed to subside for the moment, much to his relief.

Looking up at Eric, Keith shrugged and echoed Violet's earlier words while nodding in the direction Dieter disappeared to. "Our security chief."

"Our dead security chief." Violet corrected, glaring at the back of Dieter's head as he stumbled off down the ship.

In truth, Eric had absolutely no idea what the hell was going on. Nor did he understand half of what the other two men were saying. Sure he had spent six months on Ceres, but he hadn't exactly ever come to really understand Belter Slang and the way they spoke with the accents was...really hard to understand.

Of course saying that outloud seemed like a bad idea, especially because one of these gentlemen was named "security chief' and in Eric's experience that generally meant "Guy who would throw you off the ship". Thus he decided it was better to just stay quiet for a moment and decipher what was just said.

After a few seconds a lightbulb went on somewhere in the back of his mind.

"No no no." Eric said waving his hand, glancing at Violet.

    He smiled but...no.

"Just here to fix the ship." He motioned to the Terminal. "That's all."

He paused. "And get a ride."

Keith gave a Belter's shrug, looking from Eric to Violet. "I wouldn't want to stay with us, either," he joked. "It can take time getting used to the bunch of us, ya? But we've been through a lot together." He took a sip of the tequila, wincing as the burn worked down his throat. It was cheap Belter shit, all right, but nothing he was not used to. "Xiya depelésh mi wanya bi." He gave Violet a smile, holding the bottle towards her to offer her a drink.
